The papers in this collection consist primarily of correspondence to and from the Detroit Mizrachi. The predominant papers cover a fifteen year period from 1960 through 1975. Correspondence deals with Zionist efforts within the community and the nation,
youth camp projects and the varied activities of the organization. A small portion of the documents consists of correspondence from the 1930s and 1940s.
|Admin/Biographical History||Mizrachi is a religious Zionist organization. Support for Zionism began in Detroit as early as 1903. By 1930 support for this movement in gathering Jews in Palestine was strong because of the war and Nazi persecution. The organization also focused on efforts to rebuild a Jewish State.|
